The GE Wattstation 240V EVSE that we had to charge Mrs. Shoe Pilot’s car decided to go non-linear last weekend. The device was indicating a ground fault, but there was no ground fault. I guess t he circuit in the equipment that detects faults went kaput, which is just fantastic.
The new device is a Chargepoint EVSE. It’s a LOT smaller than the GE and has a longer cord. I hope it gives more than 6 years of service, because they’re kinda expensive.

Yes, I work with similar power components. Let me tell you that t his kind of stuff is powered by magic and elves. It works until it doesn’t and nobody can explain why....

We bought and I put together an OpenEVSE ( https://www.openevse.com/kits.html ) for my wife’s car. It was fun to put together and, if something breaks, there are replaceable parts.

OK. I’m totally doing that next time. In fact, I can probably salvage the contractor and charge cable/J177 2 from the GE unit
